Comprising twenty faculty members, PhD students and trainees, the Microwave Department of Telecom Bretagne conducts its teaching, research and development in areas related to the propagation of electromagnetic waves, especially those whose wavelengths are concentrated in the centimeter and millimeter dimension ranges.
However, some applications in lower frequencies (extended range radio communications, electromagnetic compatibility EMC ...), as well as microwave photonics interfaces, are also the focus of various research projects.
The Microwave department continues to develop numerous academic collaborations, institutional and industrial-related activities.
Within Telecom Bretagne and in collaboration with our partners in other institutions of higher education (Université Européenne Bretonne,...), education focuses on the field of hardware design for telecommunications systems: physical semiconductor, electronics, electromagnetics, microwave circuits and radio-frequency (RF), antennas, propagation media and technology, radio channels.
Research and development activities deal with modeling, design, realization and characterization of devices for high frequency signal processing, antennas and related devices, media and technologies for their original applications in short-range communications systems (Bluetooth, WiFi, HiperLAN / 2 ...), (GSM, UMTS ,...), medium-range (FH, radio and television ...) and earth-satellites. Hybrid fiber / radio system components and microwave photonics interfaces are also being investigated. More information.

To fulfill its missions, the Department has resources dedicated to specific simulations (numerical calculations and CAD), technology implementation and prototyping of microwave devices, their measurement and characterization.
